Alrighty, well in one week I feel like the world has happened! On Sunday we (Jackie, Wele, and I) taught Wele how to make cookies for the first time! It was so fun! She had never done it before so we didn't help one bit and they turned out delicious. We then had a blast playing apples to apples which I won haha! I just really liked spending time with these girls:)
On Monday we did FHE for the first time and that turned out great! Those boys are really cool! We had a lesson and then we played Sardines for 2 hrs. in the Benson building. I think that we will make it a really fun experience doing fun activities with all of them. I do think that the other girl apartment we are with are much closer to these boys, oh well...we will still have fun! Tuesday was busy and I got a lot done! I just knocked out hours of homework and then swam laps since my foot was still healing.
Wednesday was crazy- I tried to get some homwork done, then went Country dancing until my foot couldn't handle it anymore. I am aware that I should probably give it more of a break, or at least my family and Wele is always telling me that. I love the boys and girls that I teach country with!!! They are so cool and I just love the united feeling we have together. Thursday I did classes, job (I work every day for 2-3 hrs, which I enjoy!), and then decided that I had a strong need to go to the temple.
It is surprising how much the temple gives me peace, joy and spiritual power to be strong and happy when times are hard. I "hobbled" all the way there and I am so grateful I did. When I got back to campus, they were playing "Jurassic Park" on the big screen in the crossroads. Since no one could/would go with me to see it I concluded that I would do my homework while I watched it---FAIL. I got like nothing done, so I most certainly learned my lesson. You can't really mix fun/social with homework. There is a time for everything! We had a counrty dance meeting that night and then I went for a swim.
Friday was crazy! I made a lot of stupid mistakes at work for some reason -_-. But one of my friends from Country dancing named Eric called me and set me up on a blind date for that night. He assured me 1000X that it would be the funnest date ever, so I had no objections. After homework and school stuff, I went to the crossroads to get a free meal (we get one twice a semester!) and got ready for the date.
First we went to Skeeters (a hotdog/sausage restaurant). I am not really a hotdog person, but I decided to get one because why not if ur at a hotdog shop. The boys tried to have a race to see who could eat the fastest- a little bit gross haha. We played Jenga at the table that they had there which was fun. My date seemed cool, he was just a little dorky, but that's fine if he treats me right. After that place we all sorta felt sick, and we met four other of their roommates and their dates at Sammy's where they were having a concert made up of some BYUI teachers! That was cool. After that we all walked to the MC bowling alley where we went bowling in the same place that my parents went on many dates 20 yrs ago---CRAZY! We didn't just bowl though! We "skittle bowled" which means that when it was ur turn to bowl you would pick two skittles from a skittle bag and whatever colors you get you would do that action.(example- orange=eyes closed, yellow- dance move, purple- under legs/granny...). That was really fun though I will definetly say that I am NOT good at bowling, plus my foot didn't help a ton. After that some of us played fooseball and airhockey in the game area for a while. All this time I tried to make it comfortable with my date. I feel like I'm pretty good at making them feel comfortable, but it's a different story for me to feel comfortable and safe to be myself. After we did that we went to their apartment where we all crashed on their couch and ground to watch "The Emporer's New Groove"- I loved that movie! It was a 6 hr. date by the time we finished which is fine by me:) Braydon, my date, drove me home, I gave him the side hug and that was it! I don't see another date in the future, but I still had fun!
I woke up as early as I could Saturday morning and did homework for about 3-4 hrs. Then I went to the Snow building where I was supposed to meet my stand partner, but she didn't show so I just practiced for an hr., I then did my daily scripture study- THEEEEEN lift practice!!! As a country group we always meet to do lifts. I am SO sore today from doing that. I really need to tape some of the moves we do. Mom and dad probably would be scared to death. Oh, but I just love it so much. Who doesn't want to be thrown around like a feather by a ton of cute buff guys that you trust. It is exhilerating and I am growing to really get to know them since I see them so much! I did get a massive bruise on my arm that I dont know where from :/. You can check out their facebook page and like it! It's called "You raise me up"-haha!!! I am in the awesome main picture!
Well after being thrown around for about two hours, a bunch of us decided to go to the ice caves. I had THE FUNNEST TIME! We drove way out there in the wilderness in two different cars, then we all piled into the back of a pickup truck. The driver (mike) bareled through mud holes all the way to the caves so we were just caked in mud. I got it all over my hair! Theeeen, in the caves the experience was different this time around. For the first 20 meters into the cave and out it was horrible because you had to crawl through abour 4 inches of iceiceice cold water on your stomach through the tightened space. Then, the rest of the way everything was solid ice, but at that point so were you too haha! It was so fun though. We crawled through tunnels and slides of ice, cravaces, climbed down a huge ice sculpture. I just love this group anyways, so we got more tight helping each other through this. We reached the end where there is a dinky little ice slide that you could climb to and slide down. I wish we could have gotten some pics of us in the cave, but we were pretty unprepared. We had two flashlights, hoodies, and only one camera that died very soon after we got in there. When we got out we all piled into the truck again and laced all of our many arms and legs together to keep each other from flying out the back since we had to go over many more huge bumps on the way back. When we got to the other car, all of us met back at a car wash to wash the truck which was caked in mud!
At that point several of us had stake conference that we had 40 min. to get home, shower, and go to... so we raced. I really like this girl named Elaine. She is sooooocool! We met to go to Stake conference where the messages were fabulous and the spirit was so strong!!! We were so glad that we went!
After conference, Wele and her roommate went home and I got a shake and she got a burger and we both got fries. For about an hour we talked and I was beyond surprised at how well we clicked. We then walked to her place where we talked for like 2 more hours. She has roommates like the ones mom had at college that are just so fun and do all kinds of stupid things, so they are going to kind of adopt me haha. I got home and Wele and I talked for a while. The Lord has blessed me so much with such a wonderful roommate! Today we went to a conference in the I-center where Elder L. Tom Perry spoke. Lyndee and I got seats away from each other but very close to the front which was fantastic!!! I just love the power that exudes from him. Such strength! When we got home, Wele and I had so much fun in the kitchen for 3 hours making food for some girls who are coming over in an hour for dinner. I love Wele, she always makes me laugh so hard. She has strange but awesome customs haha. Well, I better call the folks! Miss you all :) !!!!
